Year 2012 with the Boström family

In the beginning of January we had a family gathering when Veronica's dad and sisters with their families stayed with us. It was very nice to see them and to be together. Our house. Click for larger image
Bojsten. Click for larger image Midsummer weekend in June the whole family spent at our country cottage on Ljusterö. We put a new buoy stone in the sea for the boat and celebrated the Swedish festival Midsummer. The summer vacation in July began with us visiting Leif's uncle Wigerth and his wife Gun and their children with their families in Svartlå located outside Boden in Norrbotten in the north of Sweden. It was nice to visit them. It was four years since we visited them last time. After that we went to Böle in Jämtland, where we stayed with Veronica's sister and family in their country cottage, as usual. In mid July we repainted our house in Täby, so now it shines yellow in the winter darkness. In spite of many Swedes experiencing a rainy summer, we had nice weather almost all summer and the temperature was agreeable.
Annika arrived home from the US in January, where she had stayed with the Lowry family in St Paul, Minnesota, for three months. One week in February she visited her first cousin Linnea, who attends the film high school in Visby. During the spring Annika got her driver's license and in the summer she worked with a photography project for a municipality. In September Annika went to India on an internship. She is helping with aid work in Dehli with the organization The Full Gospel Trust of India. She lives with three other Swedish girls. They went there through PMU and all expenses are financed by SIDA (from the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs). They will come back to Sweden in February. Annika. Click for larger image
Gabriel. Click for larger image Gabriel is in his last year of high school where he attends the Science program with specialization in Mathematics. He likes it and this semester he has enjoyed unscheduled Fridays. Both in the spring and in the fall he wrote the Scholastic Aptitude Test with good results. He is learning to drive and is planning to take his driver's license next year. Gabriel continues to compete in chess. In the Swedish school championship he finished in fourth place this year. Friday evenings he likes to attend the youth meetings in the Grindtorp church.
Jonatan has this fall begun the Science program at high school. He really thrives with his classmates. One hobby is to build and sell computers. He also helps his family whenever they have computer problems. Jonatan has not yet recovered from late Lyme disease. The main symptoms are tiredness and head ache. Blood tests show however that he is becoming better. Jonatan. Click for larger image
Skokloster palace. Click for larger image Veronica and Leif have been on two fantastic mansion stays during weekends. On Pentecost we stayed at Krusenberg mansion close to the town of Sigtuna. Saturday we visited the beautiful Skokloster palace from the 17th century, which is the largest private palace ever built in Sweden. Sunday we walked in the sunny and picturesque Sigtuna. The first Friday of December we went to Ulvhäll mansion in Strängnäs. The snowy and cold Saturday we walked in the pretty little town of Strängnäs. We recommend both mansions!
Veronica is an ecologist of Solna municipality and works with nature conservation, environmental monitoring and environmental issues in urban planning. One weekend in the middle of June Veronica visited her sister Gabriella in Linköping. They made excursions to Omberg and Kärna moss, where the orchids were blooming beautifully. Veronica had a very good time and got many opportunities for photographing. Except photographing Veronica likes singing and she is a member of the Grindtorp church choir. At midsummer she sang solo in the Betel chapel on Ljusterö. Veronica. Click for larger image
Leif. Click for larger image Leif works at Fortum Distribution in the Värta harbor in Stockholm where he analyses the economical regulation of distribution companies. This summer he most often bicycled the 17 kilometers to his work. He continues with his genealogical research and he is still the treasurer of the Grindtorp church in Täby. He spends a lot of time in front of the computer. On his 50th birthday he was given an English study Bible which he has read regularly during the whole year. He has also enjoyed several other books.
