Christmas greetings 2006 from the Boström family
The year begun with a long and wonderful winter with a lot of snow, which in Täby remained until the beginning of April. In February the whole family went by train for a week in Storlien, where we rented a cottage close to the ski slope. This was the second year we went to Storlien and the second year that Gabriel, Jonatan and Veronica tried downhill skiing. Leif and Annika have skied before.

We went by airplane and rental car to the Peak District, the first national park in England, which is in Derbyshire. There we rented a cottage at Farfield farm, close to the small village Hope. The cottage was very comfortable and beautifully appointed and the hosts were immensely nice. It was a complete success! We made daily trips by car in the countryside within the national park. The landscape was very beautiful with billowing hills, stone fences and grazing sheep.
The first day we walked more than ten miles in broiling heat, up a hill plateau with moors and interesting stone formations. That was a challenge! Another day we visited Haddon Hall, a medieval, beautiful stone castle with a romantic rose garden. We also went to see two other impressive castle-like buildings (those that were Pemberly in the two latest movies of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice). We walked in picturesque villages with pretty stone houses and also walked a few shorter nature walks. The last day we visited a cavern. Click for larger picture

In the summer vacation we also went to Böle in Jämtland and Ljusterö in the Stockholm archipelago, as usual. Click for larger picture

There the snow lay deep, so you could ride both sledge and scooter. In Stockholm there was a snow storm the 1st of November. Otherwise the autumn has been warm and rainy.
Annika has started climbing in Solna Klätterklubb (Climbing club). It is great fun! She is in eighth grade, is hard-working and does well in school. She specialises in mathematics and she won a mathematic/logic competition last spring. The science subjects suite her, but she is also interested in languages and textile handicraft. He is harmonious and good-humoured. Gabriel likes playing chess and he most often wins. Every other Friday he plays floor ball. He likes that very much.
Last spring Jonatan ran 300 laps around our house; 18.6 kilometres in 1 hour and 50 minutes. He plays football in IFK Täby and he likes that very much. Unfortunately he contracted borrelia and missed the autumn season. He is in forth grade and likes his pals well. Mathematics is his favourite subject and he is very far ahead. History is another big interest. Click for larger picture
Click for larger picture Veronica has during the year sung solo in Grindtorpskyrkan a few times and sung faithfully in the church choir. She has also composed some own songs. When there is a birthday party in the family she bakes good cakes with beautiful rose decorations. Sometimes she gives a homemade gift; butter knives with flower decorations, a flower painting or more seldom a hand-painted wooden box. Veronica still works as ecologist in Solna, a very interesting and varied work.
Leif has sold more than 350 copies of his book: Nederkalix sockens familjer 1539-1739. Genealogical research is his big passion. He is since 19 years treasurer in Grindtorpskyrkan. Leif works as deputy head of the department Regulation and prices at E.ON Elnät. The office is in Upplands Väsby, but he often travels to the Swedish head office in Malmö. Click for larger picture
